Phosphate rock

Phosphate rock is the primary raw material for all phosphate fertilizers, but its pricing is dependent not only on the downstream fertilizer fundamentals set out above but also the rock’s P2O5 content and quality profile. Ultra-low grade phosphate rock at 18-27% P2O5 is often used as a direct application fertilizer, 27-31% P2O5 rock is regularly used for SSP production and 30-39% P2O5 rock is largely used for DAP/MAP and higher grade NPK production. High cadmium content or other quality issues often impact the export prices, while many buyers configure their production process to particular rock profiles, making it somewhat difficult to switch.
